The Purpose?

What is cleaning up except moving things from one place to another?

The above is a perfectly natural question asked in a slightly whining tone by a child to its parent.

Quotes from The Naked Ape by Desmond Morris. Amusing, aren't they?

"The snake has long been thought of as a phallic symbol. Being a poisonous phallus, it has represented unwelcome sex, which may be a partial explanation for its unpopularity."

"In addition to these widespread forms of exploitation, other dog lines have been selectively bred for more unusual functions. The most extraordinary example is the hairless dog of the ancient New World Indidnas, a genetically naked breed with an abnormally high skin temperature that was used as a primitive form of hot water-bottle in their sleeping quarters."

"In the realm of medicine, the guinea pig and the white rat have ben weidely employed as 'living test-beds' for laboratory experiments."

"Being flat-faced ourselves, we employed selective breeding to reduce the bone structure in the snout region. As a result, many dog breeds are now abnormally flat-faced. Our anthropomorphic desires are so demanding that they have to be satisfied, even at the expense of the animals' dental efficency."

The Chinese Joy

How happy I am. Sniff. :)

Joy's picture stolen without permission for the purpose of comparison. I'll return it presently, and as no one visits my blog, its loss will not be fatal to the owner.
